Outside

One of my favorite pass times is to sit in the front yard in my lawn chair in the cool of the evening. I love to watch the cars go down the street, listen to the locust and the birds, the noise from Highway 59. It just one of the things I like to do.

I usually sit out on the front yard after mowing the grass to cool down. Well tonight I am on the front lawn cooling down because the A/C fan motor is froze up . The A/C is not working. Praise the Lord that a cool front has come through and the expected low tonight is 69. Hopefully tomorrow my trusted A/C man, Carey Workman, can make a trip to the Midkiff household and restore coolness.

Why do I enjoy sitting outside so much? When I was kid I spent gobs and gobs of time with my grandparents. One of the activities that both sets of grandparents enjoyed was sitting outside as the sun went down. No TV, just sitting and visiting with each other.

On run particular night the newspaper reported that the space lab Skylab could be seen in the sky as it was making orbits. Guess what? We all saw it streak across the sky that night in Palestine.

Times have changed. Now I am sitting in my lawn chair typing on my laptop, connected to the Internet by wi-fi and making an entry in my blog.

One thing that hasn't changed, SWAT, mosquitoes.
