Plano East Graduation

On Monday, June 8, I attended the largest high school graduation of my life. My niece Morgan graduated with 1300 others from Plano East High School. The ceremony was held at the Dallas Convention Center at 10:00 a.m. which meant I had to leave Marshall at 5:30 a.m. Jaye, my sister, said get there early parking is crazy.

I have been to the DCC before for a BGCT annual convention. So I knew If I got there early parking in the parking garage would be no problem. It did take me an hour to get out of the parking lot when it was over. The place was gridlocked.

I left Marshall letting my GPS lead the way. The GPS was fine until I got to downtown Dallas on I-30. The voice took me up I-35 toward Denton and had me come in from the northside of downtown. Oh well, it worked.

How do I meet up with Jaye, Matt, Madison and my Mom because they have my ticket and they are driving in from Plano. Each graduate was given only six tickets for family to attend. Cell phones brought us together. I told my sister where I was and the next thing I know she is walking toward me talking on the phone with me.

The ceremony was long but worth seeing my neice graduate. It seems just like yesterday I was babysitting her as a one year old when I lived with Matt and Jaye during our transition to seminary in Fort Worth.

Morgan will be an Aggie in the fall. Nothing wrong with that but it would have been nice if she had chosen ETBU. Maybe Madison will in three years.

Morgan was chosen to give the the class closing remarks at the end of the two and half hour ceremony. She was given two minutes to give her speech. She did a great job. She reminding her class that when they were young all they wanted to do was read all the Harry Potter books, now all they want to read is Facebook.

Oh well, gotta go and check my Facebook page.
