Facebook amazes me

Wow. Facebook has done it again. Taking me back, way back into my childhood. In the search box I typed in Oil Companies School tonight. My second and third grade years were spent at OCS in Tripoli, Libya. The years I lived in Tripoli were from 1969-1971.

They were great years. Tripoli was a modern city. Everything for the American families centered around school activities or going to the Teen Club at kilometer 9 to swim in the Medietarian (sp) Sea. Many actitives for families to help with the home sickness.

The facebook page for OCS had pictures of the school grounds. The biggest change I could see from what I remember OCS looking at is that there was more landscapping done. All I remember about Tripoli is sand, sand, sand everywhere.

Some of the names I recognized who had joined the group. Names I had not thought of since the days in Tripoli. Some of those names of our people who live just 15 miles to the west of Marshall in Longview. I sent a message to these individuals to reconnect. The world we live in is getting smaller and smaller.

Wow. What a trip through cyberspace.

Radio Ranch I

Today one of our students at East Texas Baptist University stopped by my office. My relationship with LaDarius started when he worked at KMHT radio while a senior in high school. He also was a member of the Marshall High School Chorale in which my daughter was also.

LaDarius and I spent a good deal of our conversation talking about the things that happen at a radio station concerning people you work with, equipment that doesn't work, etc...

I have a nickname for KMHT I called it the Radio Ranch. The reason being it that it plays "Real Country" music recieved from a satellite service.

So I though from time to time I would share Radio Ranch stories. This Radio Ranch I.
